Brenda Hernández is a first-generation Angeleno, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. The proud daughter of Honduran immigrants, she has built a dynamic career as a multimedia creative. Brenda’s journey in filmmaking began early; at just 17, she became an award-winning filmmaker, directing five student films through Cleveland High School’s Media Academy (GMS). She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge, in 2015.
Known for her versatility, Brenda founded Con Sabor Y Alma Productions, a company dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of underrepresented communities. She has produced short films under Lunar Fragments Productions, served as the producer of the Central American Voices Podcast, and produced the MíraLA Podcast. She currently serves as Chair of LA Femme Lens and is the co-founder of the Central American Voices Film Festival, launching in the Fall of 2026.
Beyond her creative work, Brenda is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, immigration reform and human rights. She volunteers with organizations including the LA LGBT Center, Escuela Simón Bolívar in Honduras, Classroom of Compassion and Immigo LA, applying her skills to mutual aid and humanitarian efforts.
In her personal life, Brenda is a dedicated runner and draws inspiration from championing causes close to her heart, striving to make a meaningful impact through her work and community engagement.
